Energy for scienceAugust 2010 – The Amsterdam Science Park is developing rapidly into an international centre for facilitating new commercial and scientific initiatives. These innovative developments require a lot of electricity and so a new state-of-the art of sub station has been built. The expanded metal aluminium cladding was supplied by Métal Déployé. Renowned institutes and faculties from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in the field of physics, chemistry, mathematics and informatics are based at Science Park Amsterdam. This is where exact science and business meet to exchange knowledge and jointly develop new initiatives. This is also the home of the largest internet hub in Europe, the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX). These innovative developments require an awful lot of electricity. Van der Ziel Constructie & Plaatwerk of Biddinghuizen put the finishing touches to the aluminium cladding for the new sub station. The expanded metal was custom-made, mounted in frames and then slightly bent. The façade thus blends in nicely with the science park environment. |
